Ram Will Add A Mid-Size Pickup Truck By 2022

According to auto industry insiders in the know, the Dodge Ram lineup will soon be expanding. And that expansion to the lineup will come by 2022. Although not many details have been revealed, Dodge is expected to add a new mid-size pickup truck to its popular line. Some say this new pickup could potentially wear the Dakota nameplate when it’s introduced within the next few years. The Dodge Dakota is the last mid-sized truck sold by FCA in the American market. Over the past few years there has been a rise in the sales of pickup trucks and they’re now more popular than ever.

For quite some time the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 have led the U.S. market in vehicle sales. And interest in pickup trucks continues to grow. This trend has even been benefitting sales of mid-size pickups. With sales of the Chevrolet Colorado enjoying much recent growth and Ford planning to reintroduce the popular Ford Ranger model, Ram is the only one of the Big Three pickup truck brands that doesn’t offer consumers a mid-size pickup in their lineup. However, reports from a recent meeting of FCA investors says that is about to change with a official announcement from Ram about the addition of its new mid-size pickup. Whatever truck you are interested, you can check any model out at Chapman Las Vegas Dodge. Whether you are looking for a Ram 1500 or any other Ram, you can find what you are looking for.

According to reliable reports, the new mid-sized Ram will make its debut in the marketplace by 2022. Although Ford’s new Ranger pickup will be revived some time before that, it appears the release of the new mid-size Ram will be right on time to take advantage of the growing interest of consumers in pickup trucks. Beyond the anticipated release date for the new mid-size Ram pickup, the details from FCA about the new truck have been sparse. The company is probably doing that to prevent its competitors from getting information about the specifics of its new mid-size pickup.

However, FCA playing it close to the vest with details about the newest addition to its line of popular Ram pickup trucks hasn’t prevented automotive enthusiasts from making educated guesses about what consumers can expect to see on the new Ram. Many anticipate the new pickup will carry the Dakota name combined with a Ram moniker instead of the traditional Dodge brand name. FCA officially stopped producing the Dodge Dakota in 2011 because truck sales were declining at the time. Before it was discontinued, FCA officially sold the Dakota under the Ram brand.

It’s long been rumored Ram was adding a mid-size pickup to its lineup. But it never materialized. However, with the market for pickup trucks stronger than ever, this would seem like the perfect time for Ram to debut a new mid-size pickup. There was confirmation from FCA on June 1st in Balocco, Italy at their Capital Markets Day, that they intend to develop a new mid-size pickup and release it in the U.S. market as part of their five year plan for the Ram brand. The only question is whether it will carry the Dakota name.
