A Look At The 2019 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

The Dodge Hellcat has become such a success that the company itself is becoming better known for its incredible sports cars than any other vehicle. A company once reliant on the sales of their RAM trucks now sees the demand for their Challenger Cars and all of their unique Challenger offshoots like the Hellcat, surging to the top of the list of must-have vehicles.

Dodge is introducing a new member to the Challenger family for 2019, and it is simply awesome.

The new Challenger SPT Hellcat Red Eye will go into production this fall in Ontario and will be available at the end of the year. The Red Eye can only be described as a Hellcat that found itself possessed by a demon.

The new Hellcat Red Eye will have everything that consumers loved about the Hellcat car with the benefits of a Demon engine. The Demon was introduced last year as a specialty version of the Challenger because of its incredible horse power. It was a limited production run of 3,300 vehicles, and they sold out fast.

The Red Eye will not have the exact same Demon engine. It will, however, have one that is very close. Dodge wishes to keep the Demon edition of the Challenger unique, so the Red Eye has its own features and distinctions.

The Red Eye’s Demon engine will be capable of 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. The engine is a Hemi V-8 supercharged 6.1 liter monster and is the strongest and fastest engine in production now that the Demon has stopped production. The engine works with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The car has already tested on the track at an incredible speed. The Red Eye hit 0-60 in 3.4 seconds and finished the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds, with a top speed of 203 miles per hour at one point. This is the second fastest car Dodge has put out, with the Challenger Demon the fastest with a 0-60 in 2.3 seconds. While you can’t drive it like a race car on a test drive, you can see how great a current 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat at Chapman Las Vegas Dodge.

The car will feature the wide body like most Challengers and will use wider wheels so that there is more traction for the vehicle. The Red Eye will have line lock and the snorkel hood for better performance.

Dodge reps stated that the Red Eye will not be a limited run or specialty production like the Demon or some of their other vehicles. They believe that the Red Eye is meant to be on the road and driven, not just locked away in a show room or garage. Sadly, the Demon is not easily found out on the roadways. Most buyers have them on display and a few are using them on the track, but these street legal cars are not being driven for pleasure. Dodge hopes that the new Challenger Hellcat Red Eye will be driven for pleasure.

The car company stated that in the future they may even put the Demon engine into one of their specialty trucks. They engineers are currently working on this and a release date of 2022 is anticipated.
