2017 Ram Power Wagon – A Great off-roading experience

Dodge set a lofty goal for the 2017 Power Wagon – to be the most capable off-road truck on the market. In a crowded marketplace, that’s a pretty big goal, especially considering that the ¾ ton truck is usually used to haul a lot of cargo or pull a huge trailer. While it’s a great hauler, it’s also a great off-roading vehicle.

Ram has plenty of other off-road vehicles in its lineup, though the Power Wagon is the cream of the crop, despite its size. Ram didn’t make a lot of changes, and it’s pretty much the same as it was in the past years. One change, and it’s really not that big, is the restyled front end, which looks closer to the Ram 1500 Rebel. It also has an upgraded interior and option exterior graphics, but if you are an of-road enthusiast, you will notice the superior ground clearance, locking differentials and a host of other potential upgrades.

With 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires and upgraded Bilstein monotube shocks, the Ram Power Wagon has an impressive 14.3 inches of ground clearance. It also has an approach angle of 33.6 degrees, a departure angle of 26.2 degrees and a breakover angle of 23.5 degrees. This gives off-roaders more space than almost every other SUV or truck on the planet.

The front and rear locking differentials help off-roaders even more. With 4.10 gearing on the Power Wagon, drivers have, essentially, the same setup as the Wrangler Rubicon. It doesn’t hurt that the Ram Power Wagon has a 6.4 Liter HEMI V8, which produces 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. With all this power, it’s easy to get out of any trouble while on the trails. To solve problems and help other off-roaders out, the Power Wagon has a standard, 12,000 pound Warn winch.

If you need your Power Wagon for towing, you are in luck. It can tow up to 10,030 pounds, and it has a payload capacity of up to 1,510 pounds. This means that you can use the truck as a workhorse on weekdays and for fun on the weekend. And with the high-powered HEMI, no matter the size of the hill you are conquering or the load you are carrying, you won’t struggle. While it’s one thing to read about it, it’s another to experience the power for yourself. If you have the time, head to Chapman Las Vegas Dodge and test drive one for yourself.

It’s true that most off-roaders are a different bunch, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t like some luxury, and the 2017 Ram Power Wagon certainly delivered. With upgrades like on-board navigation, a rearview camera, keyless entry, Uconnect and heated/ventilated seats, you can enjoy the Ram Power Wagon and feel complete luxury. Without a doubt, the 2017 offers a great off-roading experience, and it’s comfortable enough to be a daily driver. So, if you are in the market for a luxurious, comfortable and capable off-roading truck, check out the 2017 Ram Power Wagon.
