2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Cab 4x4 EcoDiesel

The editors of Motor Trend Magazine on Monday named the Dodge Ram 1500 the winner of Motor Trend 2015 half-ton truck shootout.

Motor Trend put the Dodge Ram 1500 up against America’s other two top-selling full-size trucks in a rigorous 260-mile test drive though the California and Arizona deserts. All three trucks were measured on number of performance exercises including:

  • Fuel economy testing
  • Tow testing with 7,000 pound trailer
  • Payload testing with 1,000 pounds
  • Limit handling (without load): closed-course cornering, braking and acceleration.

Motor Trend judges collected data from each truck and determined that the Dodge Ram 1500 is winner of Motor Trend’s 2015 half-ton pickup shootout. The judges were very impressed with the Dodge Ram’s 1500 Eco-Diesel V-6 engine and eight-speed TorqueFlite transmission, along with the Ram’s best-in-class 28 mpg fuel economy.

“Just five years after becoming its own brand Ram Truck has nearly doubled its market share and earned best-in-class titles in fuel economy, torque, payload and towing,” notes Bob Hegbloom, President and CEO of the Ram Truck Brand. “The half-ton segment is a severely competitive environment and winning Motor Trend’s half-ton shootout validates that we have the top truck in the segment.”

Scott Evans, Associate Editor of Motor Trend Magazine said “our comparison of the latest half-ton pickup trucks was as exhaustive as it was comprehensive, because this segment is so important and so competitive. In the end, the Ram EcoDiesel’s excellent ride quality both loaded and empty, torquey engine, smooth and intelligent transmission, ease in towing, comfortable and refined interior and best-in-test fuel economy proved the winning combination.”

Another contributing factor that helped the Dodge Ram win is the optional air suspension system. The air suspension system helped provide a comfortable ride and great handling in any driving situation. Also the variety of interior packages from workhorse to luxury helped Motor Trend make their decision in favor of the Ram Truck.

As the 2015 model year approaches, Ram Trucks continue to beat the competition in the most sought after categories, Towing Capacity and Fuel Economy:

  • Best-in-class torque – 865 lb.-ft. with Ram 3500 equipped with Cummins engine
  • Best-in-class towing capability – 30,000 pounds with Ram 3500
  • Best-in-class payload – 7,390 pounds with Ram 3500
  • Best-in-class fuel economy with exclusive EcoDiesel – 28 mpg with Ram 1500

Ram trucks provide a high level of user capability, ranging from half-ton to commercial trucks.  Ram trucks are designed to deliver a total package.

Are you prepared to finally experience that road trip that you’ve been waiting so long for? If so, it’s important that your vehicle is just as ready as you are. One of the biggest mistakes that drivers make before venturing out on a holiday road trip is failing to properly equip their vehicle for long stretches of driving. After all, nobody wants to spend his or her Christmas Eve or Thanksgiving on the side of the road waiting for AAA. Let’s take a look at some of the things that you can do to ensure that your vehicle can push through your road trip in one piece.

A Small Amount of Prevention Can Go a Long Way

As with most things in life, preventative maintenance is often cheaper and more effective than attempting to fix something after the fact. Try to perform a full safety inspection about one or two weeks before your trip. The reason why this timeframe is ideal is because if you find something wrong, you still have some time to get it fixed before hitting the road. Most mechanics agree that having your vehicle looked at the day before the trip is almost always a bad idea as it doesn’t provide you with much flexibility. The last thing you want to do is have to rent a vehicle at the last minute, which as you may already know, can be quite expensive. Visit Chapman Dodge to get your Dodge vehicle serviced today.

What to Look Out For

Whether you do it yourself, or hire a mechanic, there are a few components of your vehicle that you’ll want to ensure are working properly. The first is your engine oil. This is by far the most important thing to check. Running a vehicle on dirty or low oil concentrations, especially for long distances, can be detrimental to your vehicle’s health. Fortunately, changing your oil (and oil filter) takes minutes if you decide to do it yourself, and only costs about $30 if you decide to hire a mechanic.

Next, you’ll want to check things like hoses, belts, fluid levels, and lights. Make sure that you spend a good amount of time looking over your brakes as a failing in these components can decrease road safety. Tire pressure is important since failing to adequately fill up your tire can lead to lessened fuel economy, less vehicle control, and many other drawbacks as well. Remember that a few small repairs now can save you thousands later on down the road (no pun intended). A Las Vegas Dodge dealer is the perfect place to purchase a vehicle that will survive a long holiday trip.

It’s also recommended that you equip your vehicle with a spare tire, a tire jack, and something to remove the caps on the tires themselves. After all, you don’t want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire and no cell phone service. A can of Fix-A-Flat is also highly recommended since it can provide a vehicle with a flat tire with about 50 additional miles before it can no longer be driven. This should allow you to find a gas station or repair shop during this time.

In Las Vegas, Nevada, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV unmasked a premium drag racing car. This occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the well-known 2014 SEMA Show. The 2015 Mopar Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car provides a modified (and visually appealing) exterior that is backed by quality performance. Pietro Gorlier, Mopar’s President and CEO, mentioned the same tools had to be used to construct the street vehicle for a revolutionized carbon fiber vehicle that has the capability of traveling more than 300 miles per hour.

Gorlier was quoted saying, “The process of designing and building this new race car has been a true collaborative effort between our own engineering team and Don Schumacher Racing, and we are very excited with what we have brought to fruition.” Visit Chapman Dodge Las Vegas and shop for your favorite Dodge vehicle.

The vehicle’s new design is both lighter and stronger than ever before, and the best part is that it doesn’t give up aerodynamic capabilities in order to achieve this. Mark Trostle, lead designer for SRT, Mopar and Motorsports, said that this vehicle was “all about function.” He went on to add that the vehicle also needs to spark aesthetic appeal since customers are going to be able to connect to it while it is on the track. The new dragster has done a good job at replacing the current Dodge Charger R/T Funny Car (which was originally launched back in 2006). The 2006 version also happened to win NHRA Funny Car World Championships in a row (in 2012 with the driver Jack Beckman and in 2011 with the driver Matt Hagan). The vehicle has already been scheduled to make is debut at the 2015 National Hot Rod Association Mello Yellow Drag Racing Series.

Mopar was originally established back in 1937, and since that time have focused their business around distributing more than half-a-million parts and accessories to more than 120 countries all around the world. Mopar Motorsports wasn’t established until the 1950s however, when they partnered with a well -known drag racing pioneer named Don Garlits. This sequence of events eventually led to several speed and performance barriers getting blown away throughout the following decades. It was in 2014 when Mopar celebrated their 50th anniversary, and also introduced their premium GEN III 426 Race HEMI.

While Mopar is a company that remains involved in many different professional motorsports, they continue to spend most of their contributions to amateur racing in the NHRA. This is why they sponsor the HEMI Challenge and Mopar Sportsman Cup each year. Today, Mopar’s premium services and parts cannot be overstated or overlooked. They remain as a top pick for genuine parts and accessories related to FCA brands. Their new Dodge dragster will not only turn a few heads, but it will certainly over exceed expectations and perform in ways that many experts and hobbyists would have never imagined.

It can be difficult for some Dodge enthusiasts to picture a world without the infamous “Hellcat.” Some could say that the streets would be a little quieter and traffic would be a little slower without this vehicle. After all, its HEMI V8 engine allows the Dodge Hellcat to produce a staggering 707 horsepower. Fortunately, followers of this prominent vehicle didn’t have to face a world without it. However, it is important to note that there were times when this vehicle was barely able to hang on. Visit Chapman Dodge to learn more about the Hellcat.

Sergo Marchionne, the CEO of Chrysler, worked tirelessly in 2011 to keep his company alive. As a result, the American company decided to cease the development and production of the 6.2-liter V8 – something that would eventually come to supply the Hellcat with all of its power and robustness. While the 707-horsepower vehicle hasn’t appeared in showrooms quite yet (the initial models are scheduled for arrival in a few weeks), there’s no doubt that it is going to sell – and sell a lot.

There are few other cars in the industry that provoke such a wide-eyed reaction when blazing through the streets. A simple mention of the name and most vehicle enthusiasts will automatically know what you’re talking about. It’s gained a massive amount of hype, something that will most likely equate to dollar signs for the company. And despite what most drivers have been led to believe, the vehicle isn’t exceptionally greedy while at the fuel pump. With 22 MPGs on the highway, you’ll spend fewer time filling up compared to other performance-based cars. A Las Vegas Dodge dealer is the perfect spot to shop for the Hellcat and more.

During testing, the Hellcat was able to hit 60 MPH from zero in 3.6 seconds, which is lightning quick. As far as its quarter-mile time is concerned, it was able to achieve a time of 11.7 seconds. Automatic transmission is available for the vehicle. This is definitely a vehicle that has escalated in popularity quite quickly. Boasting of 707 horsepower is as close to the NASA Challenger that most vehicles are ever going to get. This number allows the Hellcat to earn the number seven spot as one of the most powerful cars on the market, sitting behind the Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari F12, and the Pagani Huayra.

It’s important to note many of these vehicles were produced with a limited production run, the Challenger Hellcat is going to prove to be a more powerful and affordable supercar in the U.S. Of the six vehicles that are more powerful, two of them were priced at less than a million dollars, while the F12 ($330,000) was the only one to cost less than $800,000. Drivers will save an estimated $1.3 million by purchasing the Hellcat instead of the LaFerrari. It can be difficult to imagine that the Dodge Hellcat almost didn’t come to be. Imagine what kind of a world that would be like.

The competition in the half-ton pickup class is incredibly fierce, a battle that has been ramping up for several years now. This year, the RAM 1500 was recognized as the top dog when it was awarded Motor Trend Magazine’s “Top Truck of the Year” accolade. In year’s past, the Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado made the top of many lists, but the Ram 1500 is now getting its due and being recognized as one of the best, most well-designed, and highest functioning trucks being produced. And the 2015 Ram looks to maintain it’s lead as well. If you are looking for this great truck, you can head to Chapman Dodge Las Vegas.

The Ram 1500 is one of the more solid half-ton pickups available, with a Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine tuned for 306 horsepower and 269 pound feet of torque for a serious hauling capacity. The eight speed automatic transmission is built for fuel efficiency, getting 17 miles per gallon in the city and 25 on the highway. The city measurement goes up to 18 mpg when you specify start/stop technology.

The frame is built of a new high-grade steel and is remarkably lighter than before while also being stronger, unlike the new F-150 which will be lighter due to an aluminum frame. Add to that the aerodynamic shutters, low-rolling-resistance tires, and pulse-width modulation that increases the efficiency of the alternator and you have one of the better moving trucks available. That doesn’t even take the thermal management system into account.

Of course, this is a Chrysler, so there has to also be a HEMI V-8 version with 395 horsepower and an incredible 407 foot pounds of torque with variable valve timing (VVT) and a cylinder shut-off system. Plus it can do 0-60mph in under seven seconds as a half-ton pickup.

In addition, Ram has always had a smoother ride than any other truck in its class and that hasn’t changed with the redesigned suspension on the 2015. The air suspension is also a great new addition, lowering the car’s profile while at speed in order to reduce wind resistance and increase fuel efficiency.

Finally, the safety features and accessories are excellent. Air bags, of course, but also stability control with a trailer-sway system and hill-start assist. The navigation system includes voice-activated features, 3D terrain imagery, and lane guidance on an 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen, not to mention the ability to look up fuel-price, weather, sports, and movie data with ease.

It’s really hard to beat the 2015 Ram trucks, regardless of which version you go with. It’s a high quality machine that is able to handle rough terrain and keep up with the big boys on everything but towing. Stop by Chapman Las Vegas Dodge Chrysler Jeep for a test drive today. You won’t be disappointed.
